Frequently Asked Questions
Trust is one of the most essential parts of counselling. To benefit fully from counselling, it is important that you feel at ease and have a genuine connection with your therapist. When rapport is built up, you can bring whatever is troubling you to the sessions, and I will support you in processing and making sense of it. My aim is always to offer a safe confidential, and supportive space where you can explore your feelings and experiences openly.
Counselling typically focuses on specific, day to day issues and is often short-term, helping you develop coping strategies and emotional support. Psychotherapy tends to explore deeper, long-standing patterns rooted in past experiences and is usually longer-term, aiming for more profound psychological change. While both involve talking therapies and overlap in practice, psychotherapy often requires more extensive training and works with more complex mental health issues.
All sessions are scheduled in advance and will usually happen weekly at the same time. Sessions will last 50 minutes.
This is a common question, although there is no one-size-fits-all answer. Some clients may find a few sessions helpful, while others with deeper or more complex concerns may benefit from a gentler, long-term approach. At our initial session, we can discuss together what might be the most suitable number of sessions for you.
The fee for each session is €70. It will benefit you to attend all sessions weekly as consistency helps and is an important part of the counselling process. If you do need to cancel an appointment, please provide 48 hours’ notice. There is a charge for missed sessions if this notice is not given.
